Karan Johar's upcoming movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which found itself amid controversy over Pakistani actor Fawad Khan featuring in the film, will open on theatres on October 28 as scheduled.
The film has got a U/A certificate from the censor board and the makers are gearing up for its release. Karan's Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios said in a statement on Friday, October 14, that the release date remains the same.
Recently, Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) decided not to release the film in single screen theatres in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and parts of Karnataka. The association took the decision keeping the public sentiment in mind and owing to the ban of Pakistani artistes working in India.
However, despite the setback, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil makers are determined to release the film as scheduled. Apoorva Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions, said that Diwali is about love and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is about spreading love. "'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' has been cleared by the censor board and we are gearing up for its release on October 28. Diwali is all about love and 'Ae Dil...' is all about spreading love," Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) quoted Mehta as saying.
Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, said: "Karan Johar's films present love in its most purest yet unique and modern way and this Diwali, he is celebrating love, friendship and heartbreak. We are set for the film's release on October 28. There can be no better way than celebrating Diwali with 'Ae Dil...', a quintessential family entertainer."
With this, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad is ready to clash at the box office with Ajay Devgn's Shivaay on October 28.
