Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) and Shivaay collected Rs 13.03 crore and Rs 11.05 crore at the Indian box office on Tuesday, taking their five-day domestic totals to Rs 66.38 crore and Rs 56.96 crore, respectively.
The box office battle between Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay got much intense after collection of the two movies witnessed huge rise on Monday. After the overwhelming performance of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay at the Indian box office on the 4th day, fans and trade experts were eagerly waiting to know the collection of the two films on Tuesday - the 5th day.
When compared to their Monday business, both the movies witnessed drop in their collection on Tuesday. The fifth day collection of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was few lakh lesser than its opening day. On other hand Shivaay performed better at the ticket counters on Tuesday than its first day.
Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#ADHM Fri 13.30 cr, Sat 13.10 cr, Sun 9.20 cr, Mon 17.75 cr, Tue 13.03 cr [part holiday]. Total: ₹ 66.38 cr. India biz. SUPER!" He added: "#Shivaay Fri 10.24 cr, Sat 10.06 cr, Sun 8.26 cr, Mon 17.35 cr, Tue 11.05 cr [part holiday]. Total: ₹ 56.96 cr. India biz. ROCK-STEADY!"
Having released with a combined screen count of around 5000, both Shivaay and ADHM witnessed decent occupancy on Tuesday. While the Ajay-starrer remained mostly strong in the single screens, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil kept its hold intact in the multiplexes.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had been dominating the box office since day 1 but Shivaay came up strong on Monday, reducing the difference in collection to a small margin. ADHM and the Ajay-starrer did well over the weekend as well, but not up to the expectation due to the festive season.
