Actress Amala Paul and film director A.L.Vijay shared their wedding vows on Thursday, 12 June, at Valliammai Hall MRC Centre, Chennai. The wedding took place in traditional 'Chettiyar' style in the presence of the couple's family and friends. Amala Paul and A.L. Vijay had worked together in couple of movies like "Daiva Thirumagal" and "Thalaivaa," and later declared that their love blossomed on sets of their film and have been dating for nearly three years.
Amala, also well known as a fashionista within the industry is a popular actress in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Meanwhile, A.L. Vijay's movies had been money minters in the Tamil film industry. Reportedly, their friendship which turned to love created a lot of media frenzy because of their popularity.
The couple's engagement took place on 7 June at the St. Jude church in Aluva, Kerala according to Christian customs where Amala Paul was brought up. Their engagement also faced a bit of controversy when a section of Christian community came against the idea of marrying as per Hindu rituals. The news became bitter when some of the social media sites carried the story as a communal issue. Immediately, Amala's father, Paul Varghese issued a press release stating that what happened at the church was only a prayer.
"Amala grew up in and around the St. Jude Church, Aluva in Kochi and had special affection towards the church and it was only because of that they decided to have the prayer there and that was not engagement", stated the press release.
Keeping aside all the controversies, Amala Paul who is active on social networking sites, shared her excitement after the engagement. "I am marrying the man I love in front of the family and friends that I adore", quoted Amala Paul along with picture of her engagement day.
It is a known fact that she is someone who enjoys flaunting her designer wear on red carpet and her wedding is no different. Amala Paul wore a custom made white gown by Delhi based designer Himangi. For her 'Sangeet', she wore a lehanga by Anitha Dogre. And for the wedding she was spotted wearing a traditional Kancheevaram red silk sari and Vijay wore traditional 'veshti.' She will be wearing a Sabhyachi Mukherjee lehanga for the reception.
Amala Paul was free to share every aspect of the wedding through her social media. She even posted a photo on her official Facebook page on her mehendi day.
The marriage function was attended by film personalities from all industries including G.V.Prakash, Saindhavi, Sangeetha Vijay, actor Abbas, film maker Priyadarshan and his wife Lissy Priyadarshan, Bala, Sunderrajan, Samuthirakani, actors Saranya, Ponvannan, Baby Sarah, Crazy Mohan and many others. Chamber President Kalyan, Pyramid Natarajan and G. Dhanajayan of UTV Pictures were also present to wish the couple on their big day.
The wedding reception is also expected to be a star studded event. Super star Vikram and Anushka Shetty who starred in Vijay's "Daiva Thirumagal" and "Thandavam" had already made their presence for the couple's sangeet and wedding.
Actor Ajith who gave the first break to Vijay with the movie "Kireedam" is also expected to grace the event. Ilayathapathy Vijay who worked with the couple will also make his presence. Amala's good friends Trisha and Nayanthara are also expected to be there at the function.
Amala's close friends from Malayalam film industry including Fahad Faasil and Nazriya Nazim will also attend the function. Fahad acted opposite Amala recently in "Oru Indian Pranaya Kadha."
Superstars Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan and Mohanlal are also expected to grace the occasion with their presence.
From the Telugu film industry, Naga Chaitanya, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan are also invited. Other celebs like Kajal Aggarwal, Arya, Sidharth, Santhanam, Vivek and Nasser are also expected to be part of the wedding day.
