Actor Shakthi Vasudevan, son of noted filmmaker P Vasu, was booked for drunk and driving after his car rammed into another vehicle at Elango Adigal Street at Choolaimedu. The incident occurred around 3 am on Wednesday, 9 January.
According to the Indian Express, the actor's car collided with another car and he attempted to speed away, only to be stopped by the public. He along with his friend was reportedly taken for a medical check-up, after which the police booked the actor under section 279 (rash and negligent driving) of IPC and section 185 (drunk driving) of Motor Vehicles Act. He was later released on bail.
In the recent memory, Tamil filmmaker Bharathiraja's son actor Manoj was charged with drunk driving, actor Arun Vijay (son of actor Vijayakumar) and actor Jai were caught for similar offence.
Shakthi started his career as a child-artiste and acted in a couple of movies before turning hero with Thottal Poo Malarum. Since then, he worked in over 10 movies. He was also part of the first season of Bigg Boss Tamil, hosted by Kamal Haasan.
His act is now coming under criticism with the increase in drunk and drive cases of celebrities.
