The Mumbai police arrested Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi from a nightclub on Saturday after he hit a bouncer who was escorting him out of the pub, following a brawl.
Pancholi, 50, has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation, and will be produced before court later on Sunday.
"The bouncer was escorting him out of the pub when they had a brawl. We took Pancholi to Bhabha hospital and got him certified for alcohol consumption, we have registered the case under three sections of IPC," IBNLive quoted a police official as saying.
The incident occurred at the night pub of a five-star hotel when the DJ playing at the club turned down Pancholi's request for playing Hindi songs. The actor allegedly got into a brawl with the DJ and started to hurl abuses at him.
The fight became ugly when Pancholi attacked the bouncers who had come to escort him out of the club.
"There is a complaint that he (Aditya Pancholi) hit a bouncer on his head with his mobile phone," NDTV quoted Juhu Police Station's Inspector Vidyasagar Vithal Kaalkundre as saying.
