Ajay Devgn's "Action Jackson" has joined the list of flop films of this year with its poor box office performance. Prabhu Deva's latest action thriller descended at the box office in its second weekend.
Post second weekend, the box office collection of "Action Jackson" stands at ₹52.12 crore. The nine days total of the film is below the mark considering its production cost. The film even failed to recover the budget amount of ₹75 crore from domestic run.
"Action Jackson" had second weekend to rake in moolah from the box office, but the collection was hampered by negative reviews and all-around buzz.
The film underperformed at both single screens as well multiplexes during its second weekend. In the south region, the collection was affected in the second week due to the release of Rajinikanth's movie "Lingaa". At the overseas box offices, the film met with the same fate.
The earnings would descend further in its third week as Aamir Khan's "PK" is set to hit the screens this Friday. The first choice of moviegoers at the ticket window this Friday is "PK" over "Action Jackson".
The buzz around "PK" is very strong and even the advance booking status is phenomenal. Aamir starrer is expected to have a flying start on Friday.
With the release of "PK", the theatrical run of "Action Jackson" might stop in India. If that happens, then "Action Jackson" would not be able to cover even the production cost, which will make it a flop film.
Well, this year there have been more flop films than commercially successful films at the box office, but "PK" is expected to end the dry spell with its powerful performances.
