Ajay Devgn's "Action Jackson" has failed to beat the opening day collections of his own "Singham Returns" , though the box office collection was otherwise decent.
"Action Jackson" earned ₹9.25 crores on the release day, whereas "Singham Returns" earned ₹32.09 crores on the first day. Ajay Devgn's fans were wishing that his latest movie would outperform the Rohit Shetty's flick even though the traders were not expecting the Prabhu Deva's flick to break his previous record.
While "Singham Returns" had a huge buzz and released in about 4000 screens in India, "Action Jackson" has been released in 3500 screens but to comparatively less hype. The big advantage that the Rohit Shetty's film had was the Independence Day holiday weekend.
Indeed, "Singham Returns" opening was the biggest-ever opening for a Ajay Devgn's film. The movie had made record business as it had raked in more than ₹100 crores.
However, like "Singham Returns", "Action Jackson" has been given good promotions by the film unit. The team had travelled to key centres to draw the audience's attention. The early prediction was that the Bollywood flick could make ₹12 crores. But the film has performed below expectations to earn less than 10 crores on the first day.
"Action Jackson" hasn't got good response from critics and now banks solely on the good word-of-mouth spread by Ajay Devgn's and Sonakshi Sinha's fans.
The latest Hindi movie, as per the reports in the media, is not a remake of Telugu movie "Dookudu". It is a original film directed by Prabhu Deva.
