Silambarasan-starrer Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada ended its first weekend at the Tamil Nadu box office on a high note. The Kollywood movie minted Rs 10.10 crore in three days in the state.
The trade reports say that Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has come out with flying colours in Chennai and Chengalpet regions. It has reportedly earned Rs 4.80 crore from these two centres.
The movie was affected by the central government's recent decision on demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. Hence, the response for Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada was not impressive in rural centres. But the film has done well in Chennai and Chengalpet as 90 percent of the cinema halls have online bookings.
The industry experts feel that Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has somewhere lost Rs 3-5 crore due to the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. However, the business is expected to improve as people are slowly coming out of the demonetisation effect.
Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada was released to much hype and witnessed over 80 percent occupancy rates in theatres in Chennai and Chengalpet in the first weekend. The success of Simbu and Gautham Menon's previous movie Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa was the major factor that drove audience to the theatres.
With now the movie receiving positive reviews, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is likely to become a hit in Simbu's career.
Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has Manjima Mohan in the female lead. The movie has been simultaneously made in Telugu as Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo with Naga Chaitanya stepping into the shoes of Silambarasan.
