Taiwanese electronics company Acer is reportedly planning to launch a budget-friendly 7-inch tablet, called Iconia B1, by March 2013.

According to SlashGear website, Acer is planning to launch the Iconia B1 tablet either in January at the International Consumer Electronics Show event at Las Vegas or in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The website also revealed that the tablet will run on the latest Android OS Jelly Bean and is expected to be priced $99 (₹5,500).

Acer's budget tablet is set for fierce competition in the niche low-cost tablet market which is lead by Google's Nexus and Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets.

In the present market scenario, low-cost tablets are priced between $120 to $250. Reports suggested that the low-cost price war between tablet manufacturers would force them to slash prices in 2013.
