The budget smartphone market is blooming in India and manufacturers are taking every opportunity to tap into that market. Acer is the latest entry in the competitive smartphone race in India. The PC maker has launched two new smartphones, Liquid Jade and Liquid E700, exclusively available through one of the leading online retailers, Snapdeal.com.
It is not surprising to see the two new entries available exclusively through an online channel, as the strategy has worked well with other companies like Xiaomi and Motorola. The two new phones pack incredible specs for prices that suits Indian buyers.
Acer Liquid Jade
This is a higher-end version of the Liquid smartphone in India, which was originally launched in other parts of the world in June. But the Indian version of the handset will feature enhanced specs compared to the existing model.
The Liquid Jade is powered by a 1.3GHz quad core MediaTek processor and sports a 5-inch 720p display. It has two cameras on both sides, with 13-megaxpixels covering at the rear and a two-megapixel front shooter. Other specs include a 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, dual SIM support, 3G connectivity and a 2,100mAh battery.
Acer Liquid E700
The Liquid E700 comfortably fits into the affordable device category with impressive specs. It has a 5-inch 720p IPS display with a 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek processor running the show. Like the Jade model, the E700 features 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage with expandable option up to 32GB. The Acer device features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2MP front shooter. It has a massive 3,500mAh battery good for 24 hours of talk time, 60 hours of standby time and 12 hours of video viewing and 100 hours of music playback, according to the company's promotional video.
One of the unique qualities of the Liquid E700 is the capability to support 3 SIM cards. Both handsets run Google's Android KitKat version right out of the box. There is no information on whether the smartphone will get Lollipop update.
Pricing and Availability
Both Acer smartphones offer an affordable price-point. The higher-end device carries a retail price tag of Rs. 16,999 while the Liquid E700 is available for Rs. 11,999. Customers can purchase both handsets from Snapdeal.com. There is a delay expected in the shipping of both smartphones due to high demand, Snapdeal notes.
