A 44-year-old man has cheated death for the fifth time by surviving a fall from a 100-ft cliff recently while celebrating his cousin's engagement.
Garrey Ashton, an account manager in Frimley (UK), had no major injured after the fall and he revealed that this was not the first time that he survived after such major accident, according to Mail Online. He was in Cornwall on a stag event when the incident happened.
Last week on Friday, after a few drinks Aston went to check on a disabled friend who was in his hotel room at the Sunnyside Hotel. While walking back to the town he heard the sound of the sea, he told Get Surrey.
"Walking back, I heard the sea. We had all pledged we'd jump in at some stage over the weekend so I thought I'd take a quick look down, but it was pretty dark.
"I stepped over maybe a 3-ft fence, but I slipped on the gravel in the dark. I started sliding -- I could see the edge lit up by the moonlight and it was then I just knew that I was going over."
Ashton lost his conscious during the fall and woke up more than four hours later. He said, "My first thought was simply 'blimey, I'm alive!'. I was in total shock. I didn't feel any pain."
Mail Online reports that Ashton somehow managed to get up and went back to the hotel. There his friends sent him to the hospital when they learnt about the entire incident. It further reports that when the paramedics took a look at the cliff they confirmed that it was an 80ft-100ft drop.
Apart from a few cuts and bruises and a trapped nerve in his neck, Ashton escaped unhurt as per the reports of his CT scan.
"It was only supposed to be a little trip to the beach -- I just took a bit of a shortcut," said Ashton. "Anyone who knows me knows I'm a bit clumsy. I guess it was a pretty typical stag do overall!"
According to Mail Online, Ashton had previously survived four major accidents.
At the age of 12, he was hit by a car while doing a paper round, but only sustained a few bruises. When he was 14 he was again hit by a car while crossing the road. In 1990, he broke a vertebrae in his neck while working on the back of a lorry. Ashton was electrocuted at home while he was replacing back of a plug and accidently he touched the prongs. The man surely can cheat death.
