Abhishek Bachchan, who had earlier expressed his keen interest in making a biopic on the life of cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has recently revealed that he will soon discuss the project with Singh and take it forward.
Bachchan, who is busy with the promotion of his upcoming film "Happy New Year", further revealed that he is quite interested in purchasing the rights of Singh's autobiography titled "The Test of My Life". He is also said to be looking for a suitable actor who would do justice to the role of the cricketer, according to a Deccan Chronicle report.
Singh, suffered from lung cancer at a young age, when he was at the peak of his career. The disease forced him to drop his cricket career, but fortunate enough, Singh returned to the field stronger and fitter than before.
Bachchan, who also owns Kabaddi team Jaipur Pink Panthers, had earlier told at a press conference: "I would love to make a biopic on Yuvraj Singh. He has had a fantastic life. He is a warrior. I could easily give name of Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, but I would say Yuvraj. I love his career graph and his fighting spirit," according to a Mid-Day report.
The actor mentioned that he loves the fighting spirit of Singh - his achievements, battling deadly cancer and returning to the field, playing World Cup - all in all Singh had a roller coaster life. Bachchan believes that it would be great to showcase Singh's life on-screen.
Of late, biopics on popular sport-personalities have been a trend in the Bollywood industry. Recently, Priyanka Chopra starrer "Mary Kom", on the life of Asian Games gold medalist boxer MC Mary Kom was a box office hit, which grossed more than ₹1.04 billion.
Another biopic on Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni is scheduled to hit the screens in 2015. Sushant Singh Rajput, will play the Indian skipper in "MS Dhoni - The Untold Story", directed by Neeraj Pandey.
