Abhishek Bachchan has come out in support of mother Jaya Bachchan for lashing out at the media at an earlier occasion.
In October, Jaya had reprimanded photographers for addressing her daughter-in-law as Aishwarya, when the duo attended Shubhash Ghai's party.
The veteran actress obviously unhappy at the casual reference had reportedly snapped at the media. "Kya Aishwarya Aishwarya bula rahe ho, tumhare class mein padhti thi kya? (Why are you calling her Aishwarya? Was she your classmate?)"
However, Abhishek now insists that Jaya had chastised the media for calling the former Miss World Ash and not by her full name. The "Dostana" actor explained that the media was at fault for addressing his gorgeous wife as Ash and not by her actual name Aishwarya.
"Nobody calls her Ash. Her name is Aishwarya. And that's what my mother said," explained Abhishek. "She wasn't in your school that you think of her as your best friend," the actor added, echoing his mother's thoughts, according to The Hindustan Times.
While the "Dhoom 3' star's clarification may be justified, he seems to have ignored the fact that Jaya had actually expressed displeasure over her bahu being called Aishwarya.
The video footage of the particular occasion validates that the photographers had called her Aishwarya and not Ash.
However, this is not the first time Abhishek has asked the media not to call her Ash. The actor had previously corrected a reporter for referring to his wife as Ash during a brand promotion.
Questions are now being raised as to what the media is supposed to call the A-list star. While Jaya appears to be displeased with her daughter-in-law being called Aishwarya, Abhishek believes she should not be called Ash.
"What else does one call her? Sometime ago, Abhishek Bachchan too had screamed at us for referring to his wife as Ash telling us that her name is Aishwarya and not Ash. Do they expect us to call her Mrs. Bachchan?" a photographer told Mumbai Mirror.
