Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer "ABCD 2" (Any Body Can Dance 2) has received mixed reactions from critics, but the film is expected to have a good opening day box office collection.
The first day occupancy in the morning and afternoon shows of Varun-Shraddha starrer has been good.
The film directed by Remo D'Souza has taken a good start in north India region, especially Delhi, NCR, Gujarat and Jaipur circuits.
However, in Mumbai the occupancy got affected slightly due to heavy rainfall and water logging on Friday.
"#SOTY, #MainTeraHero, #HSKD, #Badlapur [all Hits], #ABCD2 [Terrific start], Varun Dhawan cements his status as a consistently bankable star," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film also had a good start in the Gulf region by raking in approximately ₹86 lakh on opening day.
"#ABCD2 has a SUPER-STRONG start in India... Has a FAB start in UAE-GCC too. Collects AED 496,000 [₹ 86.16 lacs] on Thu," Adarsh added.
According to Box Office India, the film has taken the biggest opening of 2015. The opening day occupancy of "ABCD 2" is more than 50 percent, which is higher than Akshay Kumar's "Gabbar Is Back".
"Gabbar Is Back" opened with approximately 40 percent occupancy and minted ₹13 crore on first day at the domestic box office. The opening day box office collection of "Gabbar Is Back" is the highest of 2015, until now.
Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan starrer "Tanu Weds Manu Returns", which is the highest grosser film of 2015, opened with 35-40 percent occupancy.
Looking at the occupancy rate, Varun's "ABCD 2" is expected to break the opening day box office collection of Akshay's "Gabbar Is Back".
The film directed by Remo also features Prabhu Deva, Dharmesh Yelande, Lauren Gottlieb, Raghav Juyal, Tisca Chopra and Punit Pathak among others.
