Bollywood musical "Aashiqui 2" is nearing its fourth week of run at the box office. Still, the film is continuing to draw audiences to the theatres.
The Aditya Roy Kapur-Shraddha Kapoor starrer continues to beat new films that were released after that. The return on the investment or the production cost is fabulous, because of which the film was declared a box office hit.
But it is still unlikely for "Aashiqui 2" to touch the ₹100 crore mark and join the century club with other films.
The film with production cost of just ₹12 crore has earned ₹70.25 crore in India after the fourth weekend.
"#Aashiqui2 has attained Blockbuster status. 1st Week: ₹36 cr, 2nd Week: ₹17 cr, 3rd Week: ₹13 cr, 4th Wknd: ₹4.25 cr. Total: ₹70.25 crore," trade analyst Taran Adarsh said.
The collections of "Aashiqui 2" have dipped over the weeks and the film is now running in the final week. In order to cross ₹100 crore, the film requires over ₹30 crore which seems unachievable. The film in its first week collected ₹36 crore, and in its third it raked in ₹13 crore.
With the collections continuing to dip and the release of new films, "Aashiqui 2" is unlikely to cross ₹100 mark.
The film could have touched the century mark only if the overseas and domestic collection figures were combined. But unfortunately for the makers, the film was not released in the international market.
