The musical love story "Aashiqui 2" is emergin as a successful film at the box office. The romantic film directed by Mohit Suri continued to draw audiences during weekdays.
The low-budget film has unexpectedly fetched in good money in its first week only. In just four days, the film earned ₹24.75 crore, which is double the production cost.
On Tuesday, the business at some major circuits like CI was better than Monday. May Day, a holiday, also helped the business of the film. At some places, Wednesday's business was better than first two weekdays' collection.
"#Aashiqui2 is unstoppable. In a circuit like CI, the Tue biz is better than Mon. Fri ₹24 lakh, Sat ₹23 lakh, Sun ₹32.25 lakh, Mon ₹18.25 lakh, Tue ₹20 lakh. Aashiqui2 continues to surprise... In some circuits, Tue was better than Mon... And Wed was better than Mon and Tue... Superb!" trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh said.
"Aashiqui 2" has become the first hit film for lead actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor.
The film minted approximately ₹4 crore on Tuesday taking the five-day total to approximately ₹28.75 crore. Adding Wednesday and Thursday collection, the first week earnings will be around ₹32-₹35 crore, making it a super hit film.
The breakup of the film is: Friday ₹6.25 crore, Saturday ₹6.75 crore, Sunday ₹7.50 crore and Monday ₹4.25 crore.
"The dream is the same, the dreamers have changed and now they have delivered a dream film to us. The figures are outstanding and staggering. Aashiqui 2 caters to true entertainment lovers and we are overwhelmed with the manner in which audiences have embraced the film," India Today quoted Mahesh Bhatt, the producer of film, as saying.
The film enjoyed its first week at box office, but the collection might get affected due to the release of two big-budget films - "Bombay Talkies" and "Shootout At Wadala".
