Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor starrer "Aashiqui 2" is doing extremely well at the box office, even after facing strong competition from the recently released "Shootout At Wadala".
The romance drama, which was released on 26 April, received a grand response in its opening week. The film collected around ₹38-₹39 crore nett in the first week. It is continuing to make more money even in the second week.
"Aashiqui 2" earned ₹2 crore on Friday (3 May), ₹3 crore on Saturday (4 May) and ₹4 crore on Sunday (5 May). The film made a domestic collection of around ₹9 crore nett in its second weekend. Including the first week collections, the film has grossed ₹46 crore nett in 10 days.

Mohit Suri's film was released along with Hollywood flick "Iron Man 3". The superhero film gave strong competition to the Aditya starrer and affected its business in metros. In spite of the competition, "Aashiqui 2" did well in the first week and is maintaining a good pace in collections.
The film was made on a budget of ₹12 crore, but has already earned ₹46 crore nett in two weekends, emerging as the first superhit film of the year. It has taken over courtroom comedy "Jolly LLB" which made a lifetime collection of ₹32 crore and "Chashme Baddoor" which made a ₹38 crore nett lifetime collection.
"Aashiqui 2" is expected to cross the ₹50 crore nett mark soon, which will make it the third biggest grosser of the year next to "Race 2" and "Special 26". According to experts, "Aashiqui 2" is aiming for ₹58-₹60 crore nett lifetime collection.
The romantic musical film has already topped the musical charts. The film's score is composed by Ankit Tiwari, Jeet Ganguly and Mithoon. A sequel to the 1990 hit film "Aashiqui", "Aashiqui 2" is co-produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. Apart from the lead pair, the rest of the cast includes Shaad Randhawa, Mahesh Thakur and Salil Acharya.
