Aam Aadmi Party released a series of videos on Friday, backing their decision to let law minister Somnath Bharti retain his post. The problem, however, is that the videos provided by the party on their official website have generated such an overwhelming amount of internet traffic that the links crashed and have now been disabled.
"The account's public links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!" a pop-up message in the link said at the time of writing this article.
The videos, however, are already in public domain and parts of them can be watched here.
Bharti was accused of ill-treating Ugandan women during the controversial night raid spearheaded by him on 15 January in the Khirki Extension of Delhi. The incident invited a series of staunch criticism from the general public, political parties and women's commissions.
The clippings show that two female police officers were present at the time of the incident. The video also seem to suggest that Bharti had repeatedly pleaded the Assistant Commissioner of Police to call his senior officer to the site but the ACP is seen not paying any heed to his entreaties.
Bharti has never ceased to grab headlines ever since the night of the raid. He has, in fact, remained as one of the trending topics on Twitter, ever since controversies surrounding him hit the public domain.
The party, on Thursday, decided to retain Bharti in his post despite a series of spats from the public, media and political parties. The AAP then decided to release the video clips that would prove Bharti was 'innocent' and that the raid carried out was based on evidence. The party also claimed that there was no proof that he mistreated women or appeared racist and sexist in any way.
It is, therefore, unsurprising that the videos that came out amid so much clamour and uproar have succeeded in generating such level of interest from the people. The links have been disabled for long on Friday due to the surge of traffic that the videos invited from the zealous public.
However, it cannot be said with certainty hat the enthusiasm that seems apparent in the public will lead to vindicating Bharti of any wrong-doings or will further sink him in his ever growing mire of controversies.
