Vijay Sethupathi's Aandavan Kattalai, released on Friday (September 23), has garnered fantastic reviews from critics as well as the audience. It is his fifth release of the year and the early reports say that the flick might be another feather in the actor's cap.
Aandavan Kattalai has been released in over 270 screens in Tamil Nadu. The advance booking was not up to the mark, but the film has managed to generate good hype among the urban audience. The Vijay Sethupathi-starrer reportedly registered decent occupancy in the state on its first day.
The occupancy rate was higher in Chennai. Overall, Aandavan Kattalai has managed to get a decent opening at the box office. While there is no official announcement on its first day business, the buzz is that the flick has earned above Rs 2 crore on the opening day.
Although it seems to be less compared to his previous films, the trade experts are hoping that the collection of Aandavan Kattalai will see a massive growth in the weekend following the fantastic reviews from the audience and critics.
Especially in Chennai, the film is expected to do well on Saturday and Sunday. Moreover, the mixed reviews for Dhanush's Thodari might turn out to be a blessing for Vijay Sethupathi's flick, which is written and directed by Manikandan of Kaaka Muttai and Kuttrame Thandanai fame.
