Looks like movie lovers, who were eagerly waiting to watch Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and South megastar Rajinikanth share screen space in the sequel to blockbuster "Robot", will have to wait for another movie.
Khan, who was earlier said to have given a nod to director Shankar's "Robot" sequel starring Rajinikanth, has reportedly backed out of the project. The actor was supposed to play the negative character in the Rajinikanth starrer.
The "PK" star, who was approached by Shankar, was keen on working with the team and had even made an effort to discuss the project with the director and "Lingaa" star.
However, Mr. Perfectionist who believes in "one film at a time" policy, decided to dedicate all his time preparing for his next project "Dangal" that requires him to work hard on his fitness as he plays a wrestler in the film.
"Shankar has been wanting to collaborate with Aamir since the past seven to eight years. They have always wanted to work on a project and a couple of times, Aamir has even flown down to Chennai to discuss possible projects they could collaborate on. After Robot became a superhit with Rajinikanth, Shankar decided to make a sequel to the film and approached Aamir to play the villain," a source told Absolute India.
"The three had even apparently met and discussed the project at length but it also meant that Aamir would have to work on two projects simultaneously. After thinking hard, the actor decided to let go of Robot 2 and concentrate on Dangal."
"Robot" (2010), starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was one of the most expensive Indian movies and was released in three languages – Tamil, Telegu and Hindi. The science thriller was critically acclaimed and received positive responses across the country and overseas.
Meanwhile, "Dangal" is a biopic based on famous wrestler Mahavir Phogat. Recently, the "Dhoom 3" actor was spotted in salt-and-pepper look from the film.
