The countdown for the release of two big films has begun. Rajinikanth's multilingual "Lingaa" and Aamir Khan's Bollywood movie "PK" are set to hit theatres in December in record number of screens.
As per trade reports, while Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" will see the light of day in about 5,200-5,500 screens in multiple languages on 12 December, Aamir Khan's film is expected to release in about 4,500-5,000 screens. With this, the Tamil superstar's film is set to become the biggest release of the month.
Early reports say that "Lingaa" will be releasing in about 600 screens in Tamil Nadu, 1200 in Andhra Pradesh, 150 each in Karnataka and Kerala and another 400-500 in other parts of India. The makers want to release the film in about 3,000 screens in foreign countries in Tamil and Telugu languages.
In the US, UK and Malaysia, "Lingaa" will get a never-before-seen response and the makers are cashing in on the hype around Rajinikanth's film.
On the other hand, 'PK' will be releasing in around 4000 screens in the country and 1000 screens abroad. However, these aforementioned figures might change based on the availability of screens outside the country and the talk around the movie a week before its release.
In terms of revenue, both the films are expected to do earth-shattering business and traders are expecting the two films to rewrite history at collection centres.
"Lingaa" is an action-masala movie directed by KS Ravikumar. The Tamil film produced by Rockline Venkatesh has Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles. Whereas "PK" is directed by Raju Hirani and Anushka Sharma plays the female lead in the Aamir Khan starrer flick. It is said to be a fun-filled message-oriented film.
