Even though Aamir Khan's Dangal trailer hit digital platforms a day after Shah Rukh Khan's Dear Zindagi teaser was released, it has not only caught up well but also managed to beat the latter by a considerable margin.

The teaser of the Gauri Shinde-directed film received nine million views in a day (on YouTube and Facebook combined), while the sports-drama managed over 12 million views in 24 hours on the same platforms, reported DNA.

The primary reason for these numbers is that a trailer attracts more audience than a teaser does, leaving Dear Zindagi a tad behind Dangal. Also, Dangal is Aamir's most special film. The superstar has undergone drastic (read: unbelievable) body transformations and has perfected a tough accent for the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film. Also, Dangal marks the appearance of Aamir Khan on screen two years after PK was released, which means the excitement among the actor's fans is at an all-time high.

In other news, because Dangal is such an important film, it was being thought that the makers would organise a grand event to showcase their work, but nothing of that sort happened. Aamir is said to have wanted to avoid negative publicity around Dangal and so decided on releasing the trailer on social media platforms.

"Aamir was planning to have a grand media launch for his Dangal trailer this week but he felt that he would be asked uncomfortable questions at the event and whatever he says on the matter will take centre stage. This would go against the very purpose of launching the trailer. Aamir doesn't want any negative publicity at this stage and the focus to go away from Dangal, so being the intelligent actor that he is, he launched the trailer on social media," a source informed the daily.

Dangal, which will be released on December 23, stars Sakshi Tanwar, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in key roles.
