Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has extended his support for Hansal Mehta directed "Shahid," based on slain human right activist and lawyer Shahid Azmi, who was assassinated by unidentified assailants in 2010 for acting as the defense lawyer to 26/11 co-accused Faseem Ansari.
"Hey guys, check out this trailer. I saw the promo and really liked it. Its of a film called Shahid and its directed by Hansal Mehta. Raj Kumar seems to be doing some good work. Love. A," Khan wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.
Shikha Kapur, representative of UTV and Disney too lauded Aamir Khan's backing. "We are really happy that our next, 'Shahid', is touching the heartstrings of the entire industry. It's a proud moment for team Shahid that Aamir decided to back the trailer by hosting it on his Facebook page. This is truly a warm gesture from him and we are proud of the film and the trailer and truly thankful to Aamir for having supported it," reported IANS.
The film, which stars Rajkumar Yadav in the role of the protagonist, has traversed in various International film festivals across Toronto, Dubai, New York and Chicago and garnered applauses.
Meanwhile, director Mehta in an attempt to maintain the accuracy of looks had called upon Shahid Azmi's mother during the shooting to provide inputs in Rajkumar Yadav's look.
"Azmi's mother came to visit us and she looked at Rajkumar and she kept looking at him. After some time, she said, the pen is missing and she made him put a pen in his pocket," Mehta told Press Trust of India.
"And she looked at his hair, sort of approved the way he was looking. Rajkumar worked on how his hair was, their (Shahid and Rajkumar's) hair style was similar. He created similar physical characteristics."
The internationally acclaimed "Shahid" will be official released on 18 October.
