For quite some time now, the makers of "Dangal" starring Aamir Khan have been on a hunting spree for actresses who would play Aamir's on-screen daughters.
While several popular actresses including Akshara Haasan, Taapsee Pannu and Deeksha Seth were being considered, recent reports suggest that the makers have zeroed in on a young athlete from Haryana.
"Dangal" is said to be a biopic, based on the life of famous wrestler Mahavir Phogat, the father of wrestlers Geeta and Babita Kumari Phogat. He trained three Commonwealth Games gold medalists, including his daughters Geeta and Babita.
An audition to select a girl who would essay the role of wrestler Geeta reportedly ended in the Haryana athlete.
"Over 15,000 girls were auditioned in Haryana, including Taapsee and television actress Kritika Kamra. But the production team selected a local athlete," a source told Mid Day.
However, the film's director Nitesh Tiwari, of "Chillar Party" fame, has denied the whole story as 'speculation'.
Meanwhile, "Mr. Perfectionist" has been working hard to get into the skin of the character.
"Dangal" has the "PK" star playing the lead role of the wrestler and will see him in three different stages of his life. The 49-year-old actor will play a 19-year-old teenager and a 27-year-old, but a major portion of the film will see him as a 55-year-old man.
Interestingly, the actor has gained weight for his role and now weighs 90 kg. However, soon after finishing his shoot as a heavy weight wrestler, he plans to shed the extra kilos so as to look like a 27-year-old man.
