Director Raam Reddy's "Thithi," which has garnered lots of appreciation and won awards, has now been praised by one of India's biggest stars. Aamir Khan has given a thumbs up to the flick.
Aamir, on his Twitter handle, wrote, "Hey guys, just saw one of the most amazing films I have seen in a long time! Thithi. (1/4), [sic]" and "It's a Kannada film, with subtitles in English. It's an absolute MUST WATCH! It's releasing in theatres on 3rd July. (2/4), [sic]" he continued.
Talking about the performance of the actors, Aamir Khan wrote, "Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE performance! And all non actors in the film. And how funny is it?!!! (3/4). [sic]"
Aamir Khan concluded, "It's a little difficult to slot it into a genre, but it's really funny. Don't miss it. Love. a. (4/4). [sic]"
The good words from Aamir Khan, who had recently appreciated Marathi blockbuster "Sairat," is expected to boost the collection of "Thithi," which will have its nation-wide theatrical release on July 3.
Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao, who hails from Bengaluru, had organised a special screening of "Thithi" on Saturday, May 28 in Mumbai. Celebrities like Rajkummar Rao, Hansal Mehta, Sayani Gupta, Adil Hussain, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Ram Sampath and Sona Mohapatra also graced the show.
The simple content sans commercial elements, natural performance of the actors and the story filled with humour have won the hearts of the audience. Apart from Aamir Khan, many other B-town celebrities like Kalki Koechlin and "Udta Punjab" director Abhishek Chaubey have appreciated the film.
"Thithi" narrates how the three generations of a family react to the death of their 101-year old patriarch, Century Gowda (Singri Gowda). The drama is set in Mandya and primarily revolves around three members (son, grandson, and great-grandson) before the funeral takes place on the 11th day after his death.
It has already won several awards, including National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Kannada.
