Aamir Khan is known to follow the tradition of releasing his films during Christmas weekend and trailers during Diwali, but for Dangal he will change the rules. Aamir will reportedly release the trailer of his much-awaited film Dangal before Diwali.
Dangal's trailer was supposed to release with Ranbir Kapoor- Aishwarya Rai Bachchan- Anushka Sharma's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn's Shivaay initially, but now the actor wants to release it on an online platform a week before its theatrical release. The decision to release the trailer a week before was taken after he got a positive response for the film from a few of his close friends.
"Last week, Aamir showed the film to a few of his very close friends to know their reactions and their positive response prompted him to have a screening of the trailer a week before it hits the screens with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay on Diwali. He feels if his trailer is seen for the first time with these two films, it will get diluted. While he will get eyeballs with its theatrical release with these two films, Aamir wants more. The trailer will first be launched at a grand event and across social media and then in the theatres," DNA quoted a source as saying.
It's no secret that Christmas is Aamir's lucky period. All his blockbuster, record-shattering movies, including Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, Ghajini, Dhoom 3 and PK, were released during Christmas and trailer was unveiled during Diwali. And now, Dangal is set to shatter records with its December release.
Starring Aamir in the lead role, the film is based on the life of legendary wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. The film, which is scheduled for December 23 release, also features Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra and Zaira Wasim among others in pivotal roles.
