Aam Aadmi and the party symbol Teeli Wala Jhadu(broom) is certainly a new wave in the world's largest democracy India. The party which emerged as the second-largest in Delhi winning 28 of the 70 Assembly seats has been a viral sensation in the country since its formation. With the rise of AAP, the party's symbol, 'broom' also earned star status in the market. Now the AAP symbol, Jhadu is available for online purchase at the e-commerce retailer Tradus for just ₹ 5.
The broom which helped Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to sweep three-time chief minister Sheila Dikshit in her constituency is being sold as 'Jhadu for Aam Aadmi'. According to the website the first 1000 jhadu will be sold at ₹ 5 as an introductory price and the price will be increased to ₹ 19 after that. Apparently, the AAP's 36 inches long Jhadu has racked up a huge order in few hours.
"Jhadu has become a symbol of change and honesty, which resonates well with Tradus' endeavor of bringing honest sellers who offer honest prices to buyers. Patrons are encouraged to own this Jhadu at an honest price and celebrate the birth of a corruption-free Delhi," the website noted. It also added that "Due to unprecedented rush for Jhadu's orders, the delivery in Delhi/NCR might take upto 3 - 4 working days."
AAP's broom symbolizes dignity of labour, with which the party hopes to clean the grime and the corruption in India.
