In a dreadful incident that took place in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, an eight-year-old boy lost three fingers of his right hand after a mobile phone exploded on Sunday (July 29). The incident took place when the boy, who has been identified as D Janardhana Chary, was listening to music on the smart phone.
According to an English daily, the smartphone, which the victim's family had recently bought, was made in China.
"I was listening to music on my mother's phone while sitting on the bed. Suddenly, the phone burst into pieces, making a huge sound. My fingers too were blown in the air," Mumbai Mirror quoted the young boy as saying.
By the time Chary's mother realised that the phone had exploded, the eight-year-old was writhing in pain and bleeding profusely from his right hand. The boy, a resident of Pendekal village, was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital.
He is undergoing treatment at the Pattikonda hospital. The boy also sustained burn injuries on his stomach due to the explosion. Meanwhile, the doctors are considering the option of plastic surgery to rejoin his fingers.
The make and model of the Chinese mobile phone is not known.
However, this is not the first incident of mobile phone explosion which has caused injuries.
