7 Maruti Suzuki models among May's top 10 bestselling passenger vehicles

India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki's popular car models have figured among the 10 bestselling passenger vehicles of May. Maruti Suzuki models such as Alto, Swift Dzire, WagonR and Swift have been named as the top sellers in the list, which has been compiled by ET Auto.

Mauti Suzuki Alto 800 continues its successful run as the most selling passenger vehicle with 19, 874 unit sales in May. However, the sales saw a decline by 12 percent compared to the 22,595 units in May 2015. The Swift DZire compact sedan found 16, 968 takers with 3 percent growth over the same period last month. The WagonR is at the third spot with 13,231 unit sales and growth by 6 percent. Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback found 12,355 takers. The hatchback's sales saw a decline by 28 percent against the 17,195 units in May 2015.

Hyundai India's best seller, the Grand i10, is the fifth bestselling vehicle. Hyundai sold 12,055 units of Grand i10 in May, registering 19 percent increase in sales. The first premium hatchback of Maruti Suzuki, the Baleno, found 10,004 takers and sealed the sixth spot. Its prime rival Hyudnai Elite i20 found 8,600 takers, yet slipped in sales by 17 percent. Maruti Suzuki Celerio is the eighth bestselling car with 7,379 units sales followed by Renault Kwid that found 5,600 takers. The tenth bestselling car is once again a Maruti Suzuki model, the Ciaz. Maruti Suzuki sold 5,188 units of Ciaz in May 2016.
