Bollywood stars Aamir Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Malayalam actor Mammootty are reportedly contenders for the best actor title this year for the 62nd National Film awards.
"Jury has considered Aamir Khan for his performance in 'PK', Shahid Kapoor for 'Haider' and Mammootty for the Malayalam movie 'Munnariyippu'," reported Manorama Online.
"PK" directed by Raj Kumar Hirani is one of the biggest Bollywood box office success ever. Aamir Khan was much appreciated for the way in which he portrayed the character who walks and behaves in a peculiar way.
For Shahid Kapoor, "Haider" is touted to be the career best role for him. The crime drama film directed by Vishal Bhardwaj was much noted for its setting in Kashmir and had received overwhelming critical reception.
Shahid had already received innumerable awards for his performance in "Haider", which includes Stardust Awards, Star Guild Awards, Filmfare Awards and National Awards would be like an icing on the cake.
Mammootty's portrayal of CK Raghavan, a convict, is said to be one of the best performance for him and the movie was in fact rated as the one of the best Malayalam movies of 2014. The crime thriller flick was directed by well-known cinematographer Venu.
Meanwhile, Priyanaka Chopra and Kangana Raut are said to be in the final list to compete for the National Award for Best Actress. Priyanka Chopra is considered for portraying the character of Olympic gold medal winner Mary Kom for the movie "Mary Kom".
Whereas, Kangana is considered for her performance in the movie "Queen" as a girl who decides to lead a life of her dreams much to the discomfort of her society.
The National Awards ceremony will be held on 3 May 2015 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. President Pranab Mukherjee will honour the best of Indian cinema in various categories in the grand function.
