2014 has been defined by the kind of game releases we were treated to all year round. The gaming industry is anyway always on a high, and the release of high profile gaming titles add more fuel to that ever-burning pyre.
Sure there have been a boatload of games that were released this year, but the massively anticipated Far Cry 4 holds a special place in every gamer's mind since the series has defined itself one of the many eligible names selected in our category for the game of the year honour.
The new Far Cry follows Ajay Ghale, an English-speaking Nepalese native returning to Kyrat, a wild and untamed region of the Himalayas to scatter his mother's ashes. But this isn't a post dedicated to know the backdrop of the game. Hence here are five reasons why you should grab a copy of the game before the year ends.
Pagan Min: An Evil Genius
Over the years, the Far Cry series has given us a few of the best villains of all time, as far as videogames are concerned. However, we are sure none have been as psychotic and maniacal as Pagan Min of Far Cry 4. Apparently, Min believes himself to be the saviour of the Himalayan Kyrat state. Not to mention his brilliantly evil personality and love for fashion.
Guns, Guns and More Guns
Far Cry games always make sure you are equipped to the teeth with the best arsenal on offer, and Far Cry 4 is up there with the rest. While you shouldn't be going around expecting Borderlands 2-esqe collection of weapons, the game still screams choice when it comes to weapons. There are silenced sniper rifles, automatic crossbows and C4s, for starters.
Wanna Ride Elephants?
Since the Far Cry series has always centred around lush open environments, it doesn't really take rocket science to understand that this lush environment will also offer a host of animals in the mix, with the option to use them as per requirements. In the latest entry in the series, however, players get to ride huge elephants in their quest around Kyrat.
Connections to Last Game (Spoiler Within!)
Not only have the developers worked their guts out to make Far Cry 4 one of the best open world experiences ever, there's a link to the previous Far Cry. You need not read if you want to keep the suspense alive, but for others, you will notice that fan-favourite Hurk has been featured in the fourth game, with his harpoon gun (Impaler).
Best Far Cry Open World.. Ever
We have played a lot of Far Cry games in the past, but none of the open worlds have come even closer to what are seen from the fictional state of Kyrat that is deeply seated in the Himalayas. The Himalayan environment is still something of an uncharted territory in the video game fraternity, but Far Cry 4 does enough justice to it.
