Lakshadweep Sea region experienced a medium intensity earthquake, which measured 5.3 on the Richter Scale on Wednesday, October 13 morning.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, the quake hit the Lakshadweep Sea around 4:01 am (IST) at a depth of 10 km in the sea region. There have been no reports of casualties or destruction of property.
In 2011, reports of an underwater earthquake in the region had created a spark in the islands and Kerala. At the time, the quake was measured at a depth of 10 km in the Lakshadweep Sea about 341 km South South West of Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka.
