The target was 224 and Jamaica Tallawahs were already reduced to 15 for three. Following this, skipper Andre Russell entered the pitch and played one of the most destructive innings ever in the format.
He was dropped on the first ball that he faced but he ensured that he left no hope for the Dwayne Bravo's Trinbago Knight Riders. He smashed a century in just 40 balls. It is the fastest century in the Caribbean Premier League history as the Tallawahs won the match with three balls to spare. He clubbed 13 sixes in this innings and single-handedly took his side to an empathic win.
It was a brilliantly paced innings, as the skipper looked to build a solid base. He stitched a brilliant partnership with Kennar Lewis for 52 runs and then later pressed the accelerator.
Jamaica needed 138 runs in the final ten overs and Russell decided to unleash. He smashed Fawad Ahmed for two sixes in the 11th over and then did the same with Sunil Narine in the next over to complete the fastest fifty in the tournament. He had just started, and when it ended, it was total annihilation.
It was not just Andre's batting that stood apart in the match. He had also picked up a hat-trick in the 20th over of the Knight Riders' innings. Andre's performance has to go down as perhaps the greatest all-round contributions ever seen in this format.
Here's how Twitter reacted after this stupendous feat.
