Anything and everything about superstar Mohanlal is news. The latest buzz is that the superstar has raised his remuneration and reportedly will be choosy about his roles from now on. The rumours are that Mohanlal will do only three films a year.
Mohanlal had been receiving remuneration of ₹3 crore for a film and has now increased the remuneration for his films, as per reports. Some sources also claim that the actor's decision of raising his remuneration is to make sure that that he is approached only for quality films in terms of script and characters.
The actor is apparently not satisfied with the kind of response for his recent films and is now more careful with the kind of roles he does. However, there have been no official confirmations regarding this from the star or his close quarters.
Mohanlal, who has acted in more than 320 movies, currently does an average of five movies a year. If one compares the number of films which the actor has done in a year since the beginning of his career, it is very clear that the number of Mohanlal starrers in a year has decreased considerably.
For example, in 1982, the number of releases for Mohanlal was 12, in 1983 it rose to 26, followed by 25 in 1984, 25 in 1985. The number of releases reached his career high of 34 releases in 1986. This trend went on till early 90's until Mohanlal reached the position of a superstar. The number of releases per year then eventually reduced to an average of 10 and then to five to six films a year.
This year his three films "Mr Fraud", "Koothara" and "Peruchazhi" had already hit the theatres. The superstar is currently shooting for the "Lailaa O Lailaa" along with Amala Paul. This film is directed by veteran actor Joshiy.
The superstar has also committed himself to many films including two untitles films by Madhupal and Sathyan Anthikkkad, Vysakh's big budget film, "Puli Murugan" and Shaji Kailas-Ranjith-Ranji Panicker film, which is also said to have Mammootty in the lead role.
