Shah Rukh Khan has proved that he is the real Baadshah of Bollywood. His recent film "Happy New Year" has become the highest grosser at the box office.
The "Chennai Express" actor has given several blockbusters but King Khan has also turned down many famous roles in his career. Those rejected films by SRK turned out to be superhits at the box office.
Here is the list of rejected films by SRK.
"3 Idiots"
One of the biggest grossers of the Indian film industry "3 Idiots" was rejected by Shah Rukh Khan. Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra offered the film first to SRK but after his rejection the proposal went to Aamir Khan. After the blockcuster, now the Hirani-Aamir duo is set to release their next film "PK" soon.
"Lagaan"
"Lagaan" was nominated for the Oscars as the third Indian film in the Academy Awards after "Mother India" and "Salaam Bombay!" were earlier nominated in the Best Foreign Language category. King Khan even turned down this offer which went to Aamir Khan again.
"Munnabhai MBBS"
Though, Sanjay Dutt came out as the perfect choice for "Munnabhai MBBS", he was not the first choice of Rajkumar Hirani.
SRK was first offered the role of Munnabhai but he turned down the offer and the rest is history.
"Kaho Na Pyar Hai"
Rakesh Roshan initially went to Khan with his film "Kaho Na Pyaar Hai" but the actor didn't accept the proposal. Later the director launched his son Hrithik Roshan for the lead role and it turned him into a superstar.
"Robot"
Any other actor would not have ever rejected a role in the film "Robot." But King Khan turned down the offer by Tamil director of the film Shankar. The role eventually went to veteran actor Rajinikanth.
"Jodha Akbar"
One of the best Bollywood films of Ashutosh Gowariker "Jodha Akbar" got a lot of appreciations. The director's first choice was SRK but the epic historical drama didn't impress the actor which made him reject the film. Later on the role of Akbar was performed gracefully by Hrithik Roshan.
"Rang De Basanti"
Again King Khan's rejected film "Rang De Basanti" which became a blockbuster went to Aamir Khan
"Heyy Babyy"
The superhit film "Heyy Babyy", directorial debut of Sajid Khan, was first offered to SRK but after he turned down the proposal and Akshay Kumar got the role.
