Can Martin Guptill continue his momentum for New Zealand and inspire his side to a win on Tuesday?Reuters

Australia have drawn the first blood in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand in the Australia leg of the Chappell Hadlee Trophy 2016. Steve Smith remained the one-man army for his side on Sunday and the big question now remains is if the home side can sweep the series by the end of the 2nd ODI against the Black Caps, scheduled for Tuesday. HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MATCH...

When it comes to confidence, obviously Australia have the edge. For New Zealand, Martin Guptill remained the ray of hope and can that small silver lining help them at the Manuka Oval in Canberra?

After Guptill's dismissal, Colin Munro continued the hopes for the Black Caps in the match but his knock of 49 off 91 balls couldn't last for long. "It was a different sort of knock than what I'm used to playing," Munro said after the match. "Given that role to try and take things a bit deeper in the innings sort of suits my game.

"Hopefully, in the games to come, we can have a few extra batters around me at the end and have a bit of a hit."

For Australia, the need to claim their final home series of the calendar year is definitely a morale-booster after some torrid time against South Africa earlier. Good news remains that Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who didn't participate in the 1st ODI at the SCG, looks set for a return on Tuesday. The 28-year-old was sanctioned an undisclosed amount by the team leadership group following his recent comments about Matthew Wade.

However, will he get an automatic starting berth? That remains to be seen.
