The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will oppose the bail plea of five corporate executives in the Supreme Court, to be heard on Monday. The proceedings should be interesting, as the apex court earlier said the accused in the 2G spectrum scam could seek bail after charges against them were framed; something which has already been done.
Sources said the CBI has decided to oppose the bail pleas of Sanjay Chandra, Managing Director of Unitech Wireless; Vinod Goenka of Swan Telecom and Hari Nair, Gautam Doshi and Surendra Pipara of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group. However, the investigating agency didn't oppose bail plea of the other accused - DMK MP Kanimozhi; Sharath Kumar, Managing Director of Kalaignar TV; Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal, Directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables and Bollywood producer Karim Morani.
Also accused in the 2G scam are former Telecom Minister A. Raja and former Telecom Secretary Siddhartha Behura.
