'24' movie overseas box office collection: Suriya's film becomes 2nd highest grosser in 2016 after Vijay's 'Theri'

Suriya's movie "24" has got superb opening and witnessed fantastic collections at the overseas box office in the first weekend, but has failed to beat the international record of Vijay's "Theri."

The Suriya and Samantha starrer was released in over 244 screens in key international markets such as U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand and Mayaysia on May 6, and has received decent response everywhere. Surprisingly, "24" has done superb business and crossed the coveted $1 million mark at the U.S. box office in the first weekend.

The sc-fi thriller film "24" has collected $1,045,558 in the U.S., US$69,363 in Canada, £66,097 in the U.K., A$187,047 Australia, NZ$17,492 in New Zealand and MYR829,126 in Malaysia in the first weekend. The Vikram Kumar-ditected movie has topped the business chart for Indian movies in all these country.

Distributed by Cine Galaxy, the movie "24" has collected approximately US$1,563,820 (Rs 10.43 crore) at the overseas box office in the first weekend. However, the movie was expected to beat the international business record of Vijay's "Theri." It has beaten the latter's record in the U.S. with a big margin, but failed to do the same in other foreign countries.
