Suriya-starrer "24," which was released in two languages on May 6, has got the "hit" status at the overseas box office. The bilingual movie has minted Rs. 28.88 crore ($4.32 million) from the international centres, reported Tamilboxoffice1.
The U.S. centre remains the biggest contributor for its success, as "24" has earned Rs. 9.27 crore ($1,386,697) from 116 screens in this region. The film has collected Rs. 79.90 lakh ($119,519) from Canada.
"24" has done exceptionally well in Malaysia where it has collected Rs. 6.68 crore (MYR 4,030,996) from 89 screens. In the U.K. box office, the Tamil film has raked in Rs. 1.03 crore (£106,897) from 19 screens.
Suriya's flick earned Rs. 1.22 crore (A$249,999) from 11 screens in Australia and Rs. 10.06 lakh (NZ$22,198) from four screens in New Zealand. The bilingual flick has collected Rs. 13.48 lakh ($20,193) in Norway and Rs. 71.21 lakh (€94,240) in France.
The estimated business done by "24" from the other parts of the world, including Sri Lanka and UAE, is Rs. 8.93 crore ($1.34 million).
The movie is made on a budget of Rs. 70 crore and has given good profits to the makers of the film. In the domestic box office, the movie has performed well.
Vikram Kumar's "24," which also stars Samantha and Nithya Menen in the female lead roles, is a science-fiction movie about time travel. Suriya himself has produced the film under his home banner of 2D Entertainment.
The film also stars Girish Karnad, Ajay, Saranya Ponvannan, and Sathyan in the supporting cast. Its music has been composed by two-time Oscar Award winner AR Rahman, while Tirru and Prawin Pudi have received credits for cinematography and editing, respectively.
The good content and strong performance by Suriya are the main highlights of the Tamil flick.
