Pune-based automaker Bajaj Auto has been reportedly working on a new version of the Pulsar NS160. The 2019 edition of the popular naked streetfighter motorcycle will not bear any major changes in design, however, some upgrades are set to make the package more attractive than before.
The most notable addition will be single-channel ABS (anti-lock brake system). Interestingly, while the segment in which the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is competing, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Suzuki Gixxer range already offer ABS. Hence, the addition of single-channel ABS is certainly a boost for the Bajaj bike against its competition.
Bajaj Auto is expected to add a new colour option and graphics with the 2019 Pulsar NS160. It also reported that Bajaj may add a different colour for the alloy wheels in line with the new Dominar 400. In addition, daytime running lamps will be incorporated in the 2019 edition.
The rest of the bike including engine and cycle parts are expected to carry over. Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is powered by a 160.3-cc single-cylinder engine churning out 15.2bhp at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 14.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
The engine of the bike comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox. Braking power is taken care by a petal disc unit at the front and a drum at the rear in the current version. The addition of ABS in the new version will definitely give it precision.
The Pulsar NS160 shares similarities with its 'elder sibling' Pulsar NS200. This includes a split LED tail lamp, analogue-digital instrument console, halogen headlamp, underbelly exhaust and body panels. Bajaj Pulsar NS160 employs a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
The new Bajaj Pulsar NS160 will be pitted against the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-S and Honda CB Hornet 160R. A report in MotorOctane claimed that Bajaj will launch the new Pulsar NS160 in October 2018.
