Get ready for a musical Monday as MTV brings to you the Video Music Awards aka VMAs 2018. And it will rock the Big Apple this year.
After wowing Los Angeles last year, the annual music event is headed to where it all began: at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. The first ever VMAs was hosted in the same venue back in 1984. This year, the awards function is taking place on August 20.
The who's who of the music industry is expected to be at the venue celebrating the best of music and videos from the year gone by.
When is it happening: August 20
Where: Radio City Music Hall, New York City
Who are nominated this year?
Music nominations this year would be incomplete without Cardi B. The female rapper has been topping charts through the year and topping the VMAs nominations list with a whopping 10 nominations. She is not going home without a MTV VMA this year.
She is followed by Beyoncé and Jay-Z who have eight nominations. Drake and Childish Gambino are tied with seven nominations each. The biggest award category, "Video of the Year" will see Ariana Grande (No Tears Left to Cry), Bruno Mars ft. Cardi B (Finesse), Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug (Havana), The Carters (APES**T), Childish Gambino (This Is America), and Drake (God's Plan) fight it out for the title.
Who is hosting?
MTV VMAs 2018 is taking a different turn this year. Instead of hiring a host, like Katy Perry last year, the Video Music Awards this year will be host-less. The show will be guided through by several celebrities including Blake Lively, Rita Ora, Teyana Taylor, Zedd, Gucci Mane, G-Eazy, Lil Uzi Vert, Amandla Stenberg, Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, Liam Payne, DJ Khaled, Millie Bobby Brown, Olivia Munn, Bebe Rexha, and Shay Mitchell.
Who is performing?
It is going to be a star-studded night as almost everyone nominated is going to set the stage on fire with their performances. Watch out for Grande groove to her new single, God is a Woman, Shawn Mendes sing his hit sensation In My Blood and Travis Scott makes his solo debut at the awards night.
Minaj is also expected to rock the night with her performance. However, she will not be performing at the venue. Instead, the seventh time VMA performer will put up a show from a remote New York location.
But the highlight of the night is going to be Jennifer Lopez's performance. The singer is set to receive MTV's biggest honour, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award on Monday.
