It is not a secret that Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a facelifted version of the Ciaz sedan. The Honda City-rivalling sedan sold via the Nexa premium dealership chain was earlier rumoured for an August launch. Emerging reports confirm that the company will launch the 2018 Ciaz on August 20.

Ahead of the launch, a few Maruti Suzuki Nexa dealers have already started accepting bookings. Depending upon the location, the booking amount varies from Rs 11,000 to Rs 21,000. However, this is a dealer-level booking and Maruti Suzuki is expected to announce the start of bookings soon.

Meanwhile, the company has released a video via Nexa social media forums in which the new Ciaz has been teased. The purported model has already been spotted at Maruti Suzuki's stockyard in Haryana and that gives a clear picture about the new exterior.

Being a mid-life facelift, the 2018 Ciaz comes without a comprehensive overhaul. Maruti Suzuki has given nip and tuck in the exterior that makes it look fresh. The new Ciaz features a thinner and a more subtle grille with a chrome strip on the top and bottom.

The LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights extend freshness up front and it is complemented with a tweaked front bumper. In addition, the fog lamps get C-shaped chrome bezels. The bonnet seems to be curvier than before and gives a protruding shape to the front.

The side profile looks the same barring the 16-inch alloy wheels in a new pattern. The sedan also gets a set of LED tail lights and chrome outlining to the reflectors in the rear bumper.

The new Ciaz is expected to get a tweaked instrument cluster and multi-info display. The new upholstery for the seats and door pads and faux wood trim on the dashboard are also expected. The top-spec Ciaz models may boast off cruise control and auto headlight features.

The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to draw power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine replacing the 1.4-litre unit. The mill has already made debut with the 2018 Suzuki Ertiga at the Indonesia International Motor Show in April.

The K-Series family of the engine will develop 103bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 138Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. The reports also claim that it will be offered with a mild-hybrid system, making the Ciaz the first petrol mild-hybrid model from Maruti.

The diesel engine will be the tried and tested 1,248cc unit. The DDis unit is already equipped with the mild-hybrid system producing 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm.
