Honda Cars India had launched the second generation of the Amaze sedan on May 16. The new version of the sedan has been brought in with an introductory price starting from Rs 5.6 lakh (base petrol) to Rs 8.67 lakh (top-end diesel), ex-showroom Delhi. Now, the automaker has confirmed that the prices of new Honda Amaze will go up from August 1.
Rajesh Goel, senior vice president and director, Sales and Marketing at Honda Cars India had said that the introductory price for the new Amaze sedan is exclusive for the first 20,000 order in April.
Meanwhile, Honda has reportedly received over 26,000 bookings. This indicated that more than 6,000 additional buyers will get 2018 Amaze in introductory in addition to the new order till tomorrow evening (July 31).
Out of total bookings so far, the new Honda Amaze's automatic transmission equipped variants are highly on demand. Out of the total bookings received, about 26 percent are for Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) equipped variants. Although it might not sound logical, it needs to be noted that there were only seven percent takers for the first generation of the Amaze with CVT option, that was on sale till May 2018.
In addition to the petrol and CVT combination, Honda Cars India offers the new Amaze in diesel and CVT option. The New Amaze is the first car in India offered in such a combination. It looks like the combination of diesel and CVT is attracting buyers as nearly one in three Amaze diesel on sale are for CVT variants.
Under the hood, the petrol-powered new Amaze gets a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder engine that creates 89bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that develops 99bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. Apart from the CVT, both engines are also offered with 5-speed manual gearbox.
