Bajaj Auto will soon start the sales of 2018 edition of the Pulsar NS160 with rear disc brake. The company has already started dispatching new Pulsar NS160 to its dealerships although the official launch of the new version is expected this week.
2018 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is priced at Rs 82,630, reports Autocar. At that price point, the new version is just Rs 2,000 premium over the front disc variant which is already on sale at Rs 80,500, all prices, ex-showroom Pune.
Apart from the addition of the rear disc brake, the motorcycle remains the same. Though single-channel ABS (anti-lock brake system) was rumoured with the new Pulsar NS160, it looks like the braking technology will not be part of this update. It is a let-down since the rivals of Bajaj Pulsar NS160 --Honda CB Hornet 160R and Suzuki Gixxer -- are offered with ABS.
The leaked images of the updated Pulsar NS160 confirms that Bajaj Auto has made no changes to the colour option and graphics. Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is powered by a 160.3-cc single-cylinder engine churning out 15.2bhp at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 14.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The mill comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle runs on 17-inch wheels and braking power comes from a 240mm disc up front along with the new 230mm rear disc, both borrowed from the elder sibling, the Pulsar NS200.
The Pulsar NS160 shares similarities with Pulsar NS200 in terms of appearance. This includes a split LED tail lamp, analogue-digital instrument console, halogen headlamp, underbelly exhaust and body panels. Bajaj Pulsar NS160 employs a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
In addition to the ABS-equipped Honda CB Hornet 160R and Suzuki Gixxer, the new Pulsar NS160 goes up against the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Yamaha FZ-S range.
