Swedish car-maker Volvo has launched 2017 V40 and V40 Cross Country in India. Available in three variants V40 D3 R-Design (Rs 28.53 lakh), V40 CC D3 Inscription (Rs 29.4 lakh) and V40 CC T4 Momentum (Rs 27.2 lakh, all prices ex-showroom Delhi), the new cars were launched along with the inauguration of a new 3S facility in Kochi.
The updated versions come with new grille meshes and new Thor's Hammer full LED headlights, which we have seen in the new XC90 SUV and the S90 sedan. The interiors come with three different leather trims for V40 and five leather trims for V40 Cross Country, including dual-tone. A new set of wheel design for both the models enhance the look further. The V40 range comes standard with Pedestrian Airbag in addition to the two-stage front airbags with driver knee bag.
The V40 range also boasts of electrically operated front seats with drivers memory, keyless entry, fixed panoramic sunroof, Bluetooth and USB enabled High Performance audio system, park assist for front and rear and reverse parking camera.
Both the new V40 and V40 Cross Country continue with 2.0-litre diesel that churns out 149bhp of power and 320Nm of torque mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The power plant sends power to the front wheels.
Commenting on the new showroom and the two new car launches, Volvo Auto India's MD Tom von Bonsdorff said, "The launch of V40 and V40 Cross Country today along with the new 3S facility in the heart of Kochi emphasises our commitment to garner a 10 percent segment share in the medium term. The car was well received when we launched the Cross Country in mid 2013 and the V40 in June 2015."
