Maruti Suzuki's new Dzire could be just hours old in India but prospective buyers should brace themselves for a long wait to take to the wheels of the compact sedan. Officially Swift Dzire in its earlier avatar, automaker Maruti Suzuki has for the first time launched the compact sedan Dzire without the name Swift. The new Dzire has been priced starting at Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
At the launch of the new Dzire, Maruti Suzuki revealed that the compact sedan has already registered bookings for 33,000 having opened the bookings on May 5. Aside, the new Dzire also has a waiting period of eight weeks in India depending on the colour and the variant of the model.
The third generation new Dzire, which Maruti claims to have an authentic sedan design gets low and wide stance besides a wrap around sleek aero design. Built on the company's HEARTECT platform, which also underpins its popular premium hatchback the Baleno, the new Dzire is wider by 40mm and has enhanced shoulder room in front by 20mm and rear by 30mm. The new Dzire now gets an additional boot space of 62 litres and extra leg room by 55mm.
New Dzire features auto LED projector headlamp with DRLs (Day time Running Lights) and two-tone alloy wheels. The cabin of the new Dzire looks plush in dual-tone beige and black colours treatment and features flat bottom steering with audio-mounted controls, driver side tilted central instrument console, chrome inserts on gear knob, steering and speedometer ring, and rear AC vents.
The top-end variants of the new 2017 Dzire come with features such as Touchscreen infotainment system with AppleCarPaly, Android Auto and Mirror Link connectivity. The new Dzire, which complies with the safety regulations of India, offers dual airbags, ABS with EBD, pre-tensioner seatbelts and ISOFIX Child seat restraint system.
The new Dzire is offered in in three new colours -Sherwood Brown, Oxford Blue and Gallant Red along with the existing Magma Grey, Silky Silver and Arctic White. Under the hood, 2017 Dzire carries over the engine of its previous model. The new Dzire has two engine options-- 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol and 1.3-litre, four-cylinder diesel.
While the petrol will churn out 82bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4,200rpm, the diesel models will generate 74bhp at 4,000rpm and 190Nm at 2,000rpm. Offered in four trims--LXi/LDi, VXi/VDi, ZXi/ZDi and ZXi+/ZDi+, new Dzire petrol claims to offer fuel efficiency of 22kmpl, while the diesel is tuned to deliver 28.5kmpl.
