Maruti Suzuki had promoted Ciaz sedan from its regular dealerships to Nexa premium chain on April 1. The sedan has been registering healthy sales consistently in its segment which is the domain of Honda City. Launched in 2014, Ciaz is now set to get a mild makeover this year.

Now, chaps at TeamBHP have spotted test mules of the purported Ciaz facelift in Delhi. It looks like the black coloured mules are based on the mid-level Zeta trim due to the presence of alloy wheels. The thick chrome strip above the rear number plate is missing in the mules. The cars spotted were in line with the Nexa models that come with no badging other than the name of the car at the rear.
The facelift is expected to get nip and tuck on the exterior. Mesh pattern on the rear bumper that houses the reflectors has been covered in black tape hinting at change in design of the rear bumper. Complementing the changes at the rear bumper, front bumper will also get some sportier additions.
Spy images also indicate major rework inside the cabin. The instrument cluster will be an all-new unit with the two pods getting a chrome border. The MID screen in the centre of speedometer and tachometer will be a size larger than what is currently found on Ciaz. Wooden trims on the dashboard will get some tweaks while the cabin will retain the dual tone black and beige layout.
In its new avatar, Ciaz is likely to be continued with a 1,373cc petrol unit and a 1,248cc diesel mill under the hood. It was rumoured earlier that the new Ciaz may get a new Suzuki's M15 1.5 litre petrol engine.
Currently, Ciaz's petrol unit develops 91bhp at 6,000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4,000rpm mated to five-speed manual transmission and diesel unit comes equipped with a small hybrid system makes 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. The petrol variant is also available with four-speed automatic transmission and is likely to be continued.
