Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is going under the works yet again but this time it is just a mild touch up. The test mule of the upcoming Ciaz facelift has already hit the Indian roads and the shutterbugs are out to capture it. While earlier spy shots of the new Ciaz facelift were not conclusive on the finer details of the updates, the latest images give a clear picture with virtually every possible angle taken.
It is rumoured that the new Ciaz facelift is part of the company's three launches planned for this year. Although the model was recently moved to Nexa, the premium dealerships of Maruti Suzuki, the sedan did not see many changes apart from the deletion of the variant badging at the rear.
It must be noted that in the latest test mule of the Ciaz facelift, the evident changes remain minimalist. The motor buffs at Motoring Junction, who have managed to get close to the new Ciaz shared details of Maruti readying petrol CVT version of the Ciaz. So far the company remains guarded with no word emanating from their end regarding the same.
2017 Ciaz facelift—what to expect?
When Ciaz comes back in its new avatar, the changes will be limited to a few cosmetic upgrades. While the exact details are not known yet, judging by the images that are available on the internet, the new Ciaz seems to have incorporated changes at the front. In terms of style and the overall design, the sedan is likely to remain the same as the current model. The spotted model is the Zeta variant of the Ciaz and adheres to the Nexa range. It does not have variant badging other than the name of the car at the rear.
It looks like the cabin of the Ciaz facelift will see a major makeover. The instrument cluster is now seen with an all-new unit with the two pods getting a chrome border and the MID screen now looks bigger.
So far, there is no word on change of the powertrain of the model. Currently, Ciaz's petrol unit develops 91bhp at 6,000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4,000rpm mated to five-speed manual transmission and diesel unit comes equipped with a small hybrid system makes 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. The petrol variant is also available with four-speed automatic transmission.
