The quarter-litre streetfighter bike now comes with a BS IV-compliant engine and features a new paint scheme. The 249cc fuel-injected parallel-twin engine develops 32bhp of power at 11,000rpm and 21Nm of torque at 10,000rpm mated to six-speed gearbox.
Though the biking enthusiast was expecting Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) as standard in the version, it is not even offered as an option. Many of Z250's rivals come with ABS as standard and hence it remains to be seen how buyers will react to this omission. The addition of ABS could have made the new Z250 a compelling case against the likes of KTM 250 Duke, Honda CBR250R and Benelli TNT 25 in the sub-500 cc segment.
Z250 comes with similar design language compared to its elder sibling -- Z900. The motorcycle has an upright riding position, which is ideal for city riding as well as for touring.
Z250 is equipped with 37mm telescopic front forks, while rear gets Uni-Trak gas charged monoshock. Brakes include 290mm and 220mm petal disc at front and rear with dual piston caliper. The 2017 Kawasaki Z250 has a fuel tank of 17-litres, ground clearance of 145mm and overall weight at 168 kilograms.
Recently, Kawasaki had also ended its tie-up with Bajaj Auto for its retail and after sales. Kawasaki and Bajaj Auto were in an alliance for sales and after-sales service of former's smaller capacity bikes through Bajaj's Probiking dealer network for eight years since 2009.
Kawasaki is now managed by India Kawasaki Motors Pvt Ltd, a 100 percent subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Japan.
