It has been a while since we talked about the new Compass from iconic automaker Jeep slated for launch in India in the third quarter of this year. But the silence on the model has been broken after it was caught on camera once again.
The cabin of the Compass has been clearly revealed in the latest images shared online by Team BHP. Jeep has been putting Compass through rigorous testing in the country's rugged terrains. Although the prototype of Compass spotted dons a camouflage, thus not revealing much of its exterior features, the images offer a pretty decent feel of its interiors.
From these images, we can discern a cabin that gets an all-black colour treatment with silver lining around the AC vents, gear lever and instruments cluster.
The manoeuvres will revolve around a three-spoke steering wheel with chrome accent on it and steering mounted controls on both the left and right sides. Since the model spotted is believed to be the middle variant of Compass, it sports a small touchscreen infotainment system with sliver bezel.
The top-end variants of Compass are likely to get bigger screens. What is also visible from the images is the four different driving modes offered on the Compass -- Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud.
Compass will be manufactured in FCA's Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra. In India, it will be offered in two engine options -- a 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel and a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo petrol. The diesel mill will develop 170hp and 350Nm of torque mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
On the other hand, the petrol mill will belt out 160hp. Both the versions will also come with 4x2 and 4x4 options. A six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic will be offered with the petrol mill.
Built on the same platform as Renegade, the five-seater SUV will measure 4,398mm in length, 1,667mm in height and 1,819mm in width. Jeep Compass is expected to carry a price tag of Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 25 lakh.
